It’s been a long and hard year for many people but finally we can see a path back to operating normally at Deer Park. The informal advice from trade bodies and local government is that if COVID 19 numbers continue to decline through June then the restrictions on travel in the UK may be lifted in early July, and the holiday industry may be allowed to open up again.
That’s rather a lot of ‘if’s’ and ‘but’s’. Even if we can re-open, some families will still find their plans are disrupted at short notice. What if you have contact with a COVID 19 case and have to stay home? How will the holiday work if a key worker has their leave cancelled?
So to keep life simple, we’re introducing a straightforward guarantee on holidays booked directly with us. If you book for July or August, you will get your money back if you have to cancel because of COVID19. No quibbles, no hesitation, no time limits.
In return, all we ask is that our guests help us to keep our local community as safe as possible. If you have any symptoms in the two weeks prior to your holiday, please consider if it’s a good idea to come. North Yorkshire has had a low rate of infection and the house is remote, but the local population is quite vulnerable.

To sum up: this year has been a stinker – we’ve had a lot of guests whose holidays have been cancelled and whose plans have been wrecked. My heart goes out to all of them: missing all those wedding anniversaries, family reunions, friends’ weekends away. To all of these guests we want you to know that we’ve really missed you – the house doesn’t feel the same without you and your good vibes.
